Inclusion
Inclusion at St Francis of Assisi
The definition of inclusion in education involves:
- Valuing all students and staff equally
- Increasing the participation of students in learning
- Restructuring the culture, policies and practices to respond to the diversity of the student in the locality
- Reducing the barriers to learning and participation
- Viewing the difference between students as resources to learning, rather than as problems to overcome
- Evidence of this is shown in every area of the school in lessons and in the wealth of extra-curricular activities and opportunities available to every student
- Setting suitable learning challenges
- Responding to pupil's diverse learning needs
- Overcoming potential barriers to learning and assessment
Inclusion could apply to:
- Girls or boys where there are gender issues
- Minority groups
