The Roadshow takes place today to celebrate the start of National Science and Engineering Week. Walsall Education and Business Partnership will be co-ordinating seven local and national engineering companies participation in the Roadshow. (Read on ..)

Over seventy students from Year 10 will gain a valuable insight into engineering as they participate in a wide range of problem solving activities.  These range from calculating the "carbon footprint" of a school environment to developing an understanding of how computers support mechaical engineering.

The organisations taking part include:

Goodrich Actuation Systems Limited from Wolverhampton - Learn about a flight and assemble a glider

GKN Driveline Walsall Limited from Aldridge - Experiencing a driveshaft assembly

IKEA from Wednesbury - Household engineering exercise and environmental training

Data Energy Services from Wolverhampton - Assessing the energy usage of a school

Royal Air Force Museum from Cosford - Create an air-propelled vehicle to take part in a race over 10 metres

South Staffordshire Water PLC from Walsall - Design and put together a system of pipes to transport water from one tank to another

Walsall College - Experience how computers support mechanical engineering
