Revising for paper 1
Read useful hints for paper 1 revision - the reading paper - and work through some tasks to help you to practise.
Revising for The Tempest
First, check your knowledge of the play: read summaries of the play and then go away and do something else!
Then, read the set scenes with the notes you made in class- make sure you understand exactly what is happening and what is being said. If you struggle, have a look at Teachit's translations of the scenes.
Find time to explore BBC Bitesize's excellent revision pages for the play
Finally, practise some questions - plan these thoroughly and then if you have time, try writing some of them. Have a look at our revision guide to help you.
Find out about how to respond to a task that requires you to direct the scene.
Revising for the writing paper
The writing paper consists of two tasks: a longer writing task and a shorter writing task. For each of these, you need to know how to use different writing styles, learning about the 'writing triplets'. You will also be assessed for your spelling on the shorter writing task only. Learn some English spellings here .
What are the writing triplets?
| Writing to inform/explain/describe | Writing to explore/imagine/entertain |
| Writing to analyse/review/comment | Writing to argue/persuade/advise |
