School Network Access from Home
The way you gain access to the school network from home has changed
Do also remember to copy files onto your USB storage keys as a backup.
Before using for the first time, please follow the instructions below.
When accessing files, you must download to your home PC (by clicking on the document and selecting save) to work on them, then upload them to the network. You do this by clicking upload and then clicking browse. Use the explorer window to upload the document.
- Access school network (STUDENTS) via File Explorer
- Access school network (STAFF) via File Explorer
- Access school network (STUDENTS) via VLE
- Access school network (STAFF) via VLE
- Access personal documents via VLE
At school, we use Office 2010 which means a lot of files are saved in the new XML formats (eg xlsx, .docx, .pptx). If you are still using Office 2003 at home, then you can open the new XML formats in Office 2003 by downloading the Office Compatibility pack from the Microsoft website.
- Download the Office Compatibility Pack to use Office 2007/2010 files in Office 2003.
Instructions
- Click on the appropriate link above.
- You will be prompted for your username and password
- Enter your school username and password
- You can now download and upload files between your home computer and the school network.
- Remember: Which version of the file you are working on.
- Remember: Put the document back on the school network if you need it at school.
