Teaching and Learning

SEND Provisions

The SEND Department is a team comprising specialist teachers, HLTAs, Learning Support Practitioners, Learning Support assistants and SEND Administrator, led by our SENCo.

Our aim is to support students to access the curriculum, fulfil their potential and become self-motivated independent learners despite any learning differences. We also provide support and advice to colleagues across the school on any SEND issues. The highly qualified staff deliver a number of specialist interventions to support our SEN pupils. This enables them to access the full curriculum and reach their full potential.

Supporting Families: Our SEN Team’s Commitment

At SFA, our SEN team is dedicated to working in partnership with parents and carers to ensure every child with special educational needs receives the support they need to thrive. We understand that navigating the world of SEN can be complex and, at times, overwhelming. That’s why we go to great lengths to provide clear communication, tailored guidance, and compassionate support every step of the way.

Our responsibilities include:

• Early identification and assessment of needs through collaborative dialogue and professional expertise.

• Personalised learning support plans developed with input from families and external specialists.

• Regular reviews and updates to ensure provision remains effective and responsive.

• Workshops and resources to empower parents with knowledge and strategies.

• Liaison with external agencies to coordinate holistic support beyond the classroom.

We believe that strong partnerships with families are key to successful outcomes. In return, we ask that parents and carers:

• Engage openly and honestly with the SEN team, sharing relevant information and concerns.

• Attend meetings and reviews to help shape and monitor their child’s progress.

• Support agreed strategies at home, reinforcing consistency and continuity. Supporting Home learning and overlearning to build good working memory and better access to the curriculum.

• Maintain regular communication, helping us respond swiftly to any changes or challenges.

Together, we can build a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
