Sixth Form

Sixth Form life is a wholly inclusive and aspirational experience at SFA. Students dress smartly, have many curriculum pathways to choose from which suit their journey and have excellent facilities.

As a growing Sixth Form the working and non-contact environment is unrivalled. Students have a pastoral coach who guides and supports them as well as a Head of Sixth Form and Assistant Lead of Sixth Form.

All students have a Form Tutor and five periods of study, per week, in their chosen subjects. In addition to this there is extensive UCAS and careers advice which sets the aspirational scene for all students. The structure of the Sixth Form allows for greater independence and responsibility so that students are prepared for their chosen next steps at the end of the Key Stage studies. However, we don’t lose sight of the fact that our young people still need support and so our Welfare offer to Sixth Form students continues. We are conscious of the pressures young people face and therefore still hold dear our values and warm relationships throughout the Sixth Form.

We continue to reward heavily and hold rewards trips and celebrations for our 16-19 year olds. Students are still offered core PE lessons and access to the school gym as well as a lesson on Catholic Citizenship, discussing and sharing the values necessary to be an excellent citizen.

Charity work in Sixth Form goes beyond fund raising and evolves into ‘doing more’. Our students often make up the highest number of students represented by one school at the annual diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes. During this week students support and nurse those with limitation so that they can take part in the pilgrimage. It is a life changing experience that our students recount for many years to come.

The Sixth Form curriculum offer is an exciting one with many subjects on offer as A-Levels and Vocational qualifications with a diverse range of subjects including Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Law and Photography as well as all of the other subjects offered at Key Stage 4. This rich diet gives all students a learning pathway and allows them to open up opportunities for their future careers.
