Catering
St Francis of Assisi Catholic College have a partnership with Caterlink who provide all of the catering onsite every day.
We are extremely proud of all aspects of our Catering service, the quality and offer of food is outstanding, the differing dining facilities meet the needs of our students and the Catering team in school are excellent, the picture below shows the team collecting a National Award from Caterlink.
The catering offer is varied, it changes every day, food is cooked from fresh and we offer a service for students with varying needs including vegetarian and Gluten Free. The offer strikes the right balance between being healthy but also very tasty!
To highlight the quality of the service the school has a 5-star rating in relation to Hygiene and the catering service was recently nominated in the top 5 catering services in the UK in the LACA awards 2022.
The school has varied menu and celebrates numerous themed days across the school year, the pictures below show these in action.
The school is environmentally aware and the catering service has a significant role to play in ensuring our carbon footprint is decreased year on year. The student council leads and promotes the need for our school to be environmentally aware and their input has led to significant changes in how the canteen operates. We use less single use plastic and cardboard than ever before, in September 2022 every student and staff member will be issued with a plastic SFA water bottle to help decrease the use of plastic bottles, we have installed clear recycling bins across school and food from the canteen is sourced locally and not nationally.
We have installed modern water machines across the entire school to accommodate this change.
The school has made significant investments in the catering outlets in school, so there is a space for every child to enjoy their food. We have a modern canteen with benches and brand-new service area, we also have an outside canopy space and service hatch for those students who would rather eat in the fresh air.
